If you get anymore information on the Shipman company, please let me know as I just bought an old organ today 3/28/10 and Shipman is the maker.
Can''t wait to play it.

Yes, we opened the back panel and found a serial number, but the only date we could find was the 19th century patent date on one of the parts, which was earlier than the organ could be (we found out the original factory burnt down in the early 20th century and changed it''s name to the one on the organ thereafter).

Hi, I have a similar organ, made by the same company in High Point, NC... Mine has been in my family since my great grandfather purchased it.

If you look on the back, there should be two panels....one is screwed in (the lower one), and one has thumb type toggles (the upper one)... on the back of the upper panel, mine has a production number and a date that is was made.... which was 1908.

Hope this helps... and a side note... a few years back, I saw one that looked exactly like mine in an antique shop with a cracked mirror... they were wanting 3500 for it.

Have a good day.

Hi... that looks a lot like the pump organ in my living room. When my grandmother passed away, I was lucky enough to get it. As far as a date on your organ.. on mine, there are two back panels... the lower is screwed in, but the upper panel has toggle for access to the back.... on that panel there is a production number and date. Mine was made, by hand, on May 9, 1908, from the High Point Piano and Organ company.... hope that helps you find a year it was made.

This movie rocked!!!! one of the best Goth Operas EVER!!!!!! I think I can make this one of my favorite films of all times. I too was introduced to it by my now Ex boyfriend, ah one of the things I liked most about him. his understanding of appreciating the dark side of the world. I agree this is the movie of the decade. most definetly will become s cult classic! What a brilliant cast and Sarah Brightman was amazing!!
